Mail On Sunday 2011- 1st Round Tilgate played Cottesmore in the 1st round of the 2011 Mail on Sunday. This was always going to be a tricky match as both teams got to the last 64 in the country last year. First out was Vince Carter who played an old Tilgate member by the name of Ross Herbert - they halved their match. Next was new boy Doug Comber who came up against a great player who has played on the Euro Pro Tour. Unfortunately Doug lost 3 & 2. Third out was the mad scouser Freddie Warrilow who had a great game with an old character from Cottesmore , Freddie winning 2 & 1. Kev Manley was next and played the Trilby Tour finalist Dan Smythe but Kev played well to get a good half. Last out was captain Pete Danton who played a dodgy 9 handicapper, but managed to beat him 2 & 1 so the team were victorious by the margin of 3 - 2. Next round will be in February when hopefully the conditions will have improved. Well done team.
Mail On Sunday 2011- 2nd Round In the second round of the Mail on Sunday we were drawn against Cuckfield Golf Centre. It was yet another wet day at an already muddy Tilgate. First out was Vince Carter who defeated a 1 handicapper 2 & 1. Second was Kev Manley who played a 15 handicapper & won 3 & 1. Third was Freddie Warrilow who played a 12 handicapper & won 7 & 6. Next was the replacement for Doug Comber, Russell Chrystie & he played an 11 handicapper & won by the superb score of 9 & 8. Last out was Captain Pete Danton who played an inspired 17 handicapper & they halved their match Well done team - 4½ to ½ winners.
